MAJOR INITIATIVES:
Since last one year the central library has taken many initiatives to make the library more useful and tech-savvy. Once we become successful to implement the below initiatives, it will be a far better place to spend users’ valuable time.
- Prepared library rules and policies
- Lending services to each and every students
- Increased the seating space in the reading hall
- Initiated Internet facility for the users in the reading hall
- Started e-document (e-books & articles) delivery service on demand
- Proposal sent for employing library professional trainee or interns (on contract)
- Proposal sent for the extension of library building to create various types of reading spaces
- Requisition sent for 9 PCs for library users
- Koha LMS and DSpace will be implemented once we receive the PCs
- Requested for display cum notice board to exhibit the current information regarding higher education, research and fellowships
- Students clubs will be formed for library activity and promotion
- External membership will be offered to the outsider
- Archiving Darjeeling initiative has been taken to make a separate collection of documents related to Darjeeling and its culture, religion, society, economy, ecology, weather and geographical aspect.
